A beautiful hand-inlaid chess board in the traditional mosaic marquetry style, as much a piece of decor as a game. The playing surface alternates star-medallion squares with X-patterned squares, each centered with a small mother-of-pearl inlay. Several bands of geometric marquetry frame the board, including checkerboard borders, diamond-and-star motifs, and fine striped inlay in warm walnut, honey, and deep red tones.
The raised, tray-style frame keeps the pieces contained. Display it on a coffee table, shelf, or console, or play on it.
